Is this week over yet?

Here's Aiden crashed out after his day of fun with Landon and Randi.

It's only Tues night and I'm already ready for the weekend. Tomorrow I have to a check-off for a med pass. I have to be able to look at a Dr's order for meds and find mistakes on how they were written out on the medicine administration record (MAR) sheet. Then I have to know the 6 rights and know how to administer all the different meds. It really isn't too hard...just a lot to remember. I have to finish up my care plan for my patient I'll have at my clinical on Thurs. those aren't too hard either, it's just very time consuming.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE my clinical site? I have to drive an hour to get there, but it's the nicest nursing home I've ever seen. It's an extremely small town, and I think that's why it's so nice. Everybody was so friendly and helpful and they were good to the residents. It was such a breath of fresh air b/c a good nursing home staff like that is hard to find. I'm looking foward to being there.

I have a huge praise. I'm off of my blood pressure medicine. I've been trying to hard to do what I know I need to do and be healthy. I also got a student membership to the Y again, so I'll start going with my friend Jen after school. I just pray and ask for strength everyday to keep it up. I need my healthy so I can be around for Aiden and Jeff.

I'm off now, so I can get Aiden ready for bed. Sleep tight.

Ladies and Gentleman, we have a talker!

Yesterday Jeff and I were sitting with Aiden on the loveseat and we were talking to him, and I was kissing his face off just as I do everyday. Jeff told Aiden, "Say mama", and Aiden said as plain as day "dada". It was the sweetest thing in the world. We of course did the typical parent thing and cheered and clapped and I gave him more kisses. He coninued to say it all night long. What a precious boy.

He is also on the move. Gone are the days of rolling. He's not crawling yet, but he's srmy crawling, or he'll stick his butt way up in the air and then push with his toes. I haven't been able to write too much in his book and on his calendar the past 2 months or so, but now this kids is really taking off and starting to do a lot of things all at once. I love watching him grow!

I must say that I love floating holidays. We had one Friday, so that gave me a 3 day weekend, and I've loved every minute of it. I'm caught up on all of my sleep and I feel great.

School has been rough. Last month was Pharmacology, and I honestly have no idea how I passed and didn't have to retake it. It was so hard!! But you know what made it so hard? We were told to focus in on certain things, so we'd study those things and then completely different things would be on the test. I ended up passing with a C+, which really isn't bad. The grading scale it tougher on nursing students, and we have to pass a class with an 80, and I think I ended up with an 84. I was disappointed, but I also knew I needed to be realistic and just be happy I passed the first time around.

This month has been easier as far as tests go, but we're finishing up our sterile procedures, learning how to pass meds and give injections. There are just a lot of steps to rememebr as far as those are concerned. Next month I'll be done with check-offs, where we just do a demo of a procedure on a dummy one on one with the instructor for a grade, and I'm so happy b/c it's so stressful!

In 2 weeks I start the new schedule I'll have until I graduate. I'll be in class 2 days and have one clinical day, so I can't wait. I think I'll also be picking up a job a couple of days a week. I think I'm finally going to go to the assisted living place that's like 2 minutes from my house and apply there. I know girls who work there, and they love it, so I'll give it a shot.

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. Enjoy what's left of it!

Let me just start by saying that I've never been so bust in my life! I fall into bed every night just absolutely exhausted. I'm up at 6am and I go strong all day until I crash at 11pm or midnight. I am really enjoying myself though! I'm hoping this means that I'll really love nursing.

Clinicals are going well. I'm in the nursing home setting right now, and I love those people. They're so excited to see a friendly face and to have someone to talk to who really cares about them. Nursing home work is hard work! I give huge props to nursing assistants who do that hard work everyday. I must say that they're definitely doing the hardest work and way underpaid!

Aiden is doing very well and growing so much everyday! Right now his personality is really starting to come out and it's so cute! He's always being silly and he jabbers all the time. He's really starting to belly laugh too :) He keeps me entertained all day. We just sit and laugh all day. Every month I think he's at my favorite stage and then the next month rolls around and we have even more fun together. He's my big ol' sweetheart.

I need to head on out. There's always more I want to write about, but class is over for the day and I need to head on out and pick Aiden up. I hope all is well with all of you!

Wow! I can still type!

Who knew? It's been a long time hasn't it? Thank you all for the e-mails and for thinking of me and just checking in to see how I'm doing. Things here are fabulous. I just haven't been online b/c our computer at home blew up. Hopefully it'll be fixed when income tax rolls around.

Let me start with Aiden. Ahhh, my little man. He'll be 6 months on Thurday and he is growing like a weed. He's over 15 pounds now, which is good for a baby who was in the 4 pound range at his smallest. He's laughing out loud and rolling to where he wants to go. The next thing on the agenda is crawling, and he's trying so hard to crawl everyday! I give him a couple week and he should have it down. I love this stage where he's able to interact with us more and get excited when he sees us. He truly is the best, but I'm his mommy, so I'm partial :) I couldn't ask for a more healthy, laid back and beautiful baby.

School is going very well! I made the President's list for the first quarter, which means a 4.0, and I have an A so far for this month. Is it hard? Of course, but I love it. I know I'm doing something that I will love. So far this has been the most rewarding thing in my life besides being a wife and mother. I love it b/c there are women here just like me. Most of us are moms or wives or both, and we're all going through the same things. I think it's really brought us all together, and we all do well working as team and helping eachother out. I love too that I'll have some independence once this is all over. I know it'll be a good feeling knowing I've accomplished such a big thing on my own.

I need to head on out so I can research a paper due next week. It's a short 2 pager on Russia and how they eat. It's for nutrition class, so it'll be easy and simple. I hope all is well with all of you. I've missed reading everyone's blogs, but I plan on cathching up ASAP. Love you all!
