Calling all first time moms!

The mother-daughter banquet at our church is coming up on May 12th. Yesterday after our Sunday morning service our pastor's wife came up to me and she asked if I would give a testimony. She's getting different moms at different stages and grandmothers to talk about what it means to them to be a mom. I will be speaking as a first time mom. Any tips? I just want to truly capture what it's like being a first time mom. I'm very nervous because I cry sometimes just thinking about how much I love Aiden, so I know there will be some tears when I have to get up and talk about it. Seriously, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

More of Aiden on the move!

I'm sitting here sick. There must be something going around this state of Ohio! I thought it was bronchitis at first, and now I think it's a bad head and chest cold. I'm praying so hard that Aiden doesn't catch it because he's never been sick!

I can't get enough of this boy. His second tooth is coming through! It's so cute to see him smile with his little tooth. He now knows how to give kisses. He's discovering his voice, and his new thing is screaming. The first few times he screamed I would run to his rescue, only to discover that he was just playing and excited. He wasn't hurt like I thought he was. On Wed he goes to the Dr for his 9 month check-up, and I can't wait to get his stats because I think he's pretty tall and he's very solid. He has to be over 20 pounds now. I am impressed too b/c when he started rolling to where he wanted to go we started tapping his little hand and telling him no when he was getting into things he shouldn't be into. Now we'll tell him now and he stops whatever he's doing and finds his toys. I'm so pleased because a kid who is allowed to touch everything drives me crazy! What drives me even more crazy is when these people come to your house and act like your crazy for having pretty things out, and then because they can't make their child listen they start moving your stuff up high and out of the way. Ummmm, no! Having nice things out isn't the problem if you know what I'm saying. Enough said.

I have another class down at school and I start a new one on Monday. It's going to be Muskuloskeletal. I hear it's not too hard, so I hope the reports I'm hearing are accurate. I had a rough clinical on Tues. I can't say too much, but I sat and watched my lady die all day. She didn't die while I was there, but you knew she wasn't going to make it. It broke my heart. I know it would be worse for her to suffer though. I did my best to keep her as comfortable as I could. Thursday will be my next clinical day, and hopefully it's a much better day!

I need to head on out and take some more meds and put my pitiful self in bed. Have a great weekend everyone!

A few videos from today!

I just baked 82 chocolate chip cookies for tomorrow. I have my clinical, and it's the day when the nursing students give the residents a party. I'm excited because this will something for them to look foward to and it'll be fun for them.

I got a few videos of Aiden that I wanted to add for those who don't get to see him as much. We send our love to you all and can't wait to see you this summer!

It's a big, big world!

Aiden and his favorite song!

Add to My Profile | More Videos

I need to start adding more videos for the grandparents and family out of state, so here I go. It's so much easier to make a video with the digital camera and then put it on here istead of trying to hook up the video camera and getting all of the wires confused.

Aiden loves the show, It's a Big,Big World on PBS, and this song at the end gets him every time. He freezes right where he is and starts doing this little dance. We've noticed lately that he's starting to dance to music and it's so funny! It's was hard to not laugh out loud while filming him. We wanted to, but then he would have gotten distracted and stopped. I hope you enjoy it Grandpa and Grandma Delehoy!

I'll write more later. I have TONS of studying to do. I have my clinical Tuesday, and I have to do my first med pass. The injections won't be so bad because I've given insulin injections already, but I have to learn the 21 or 22 meds my patient is on. We can't pass a med if we don't know what it is and why we're giving it. Wish me luck!

How many milestones can a boy achieve in just a few days?

Well, let me tell you. On Thurs Aiden started crawling. Friday he started pulling himself up onto his knees. Saturday he started pulling himself up to a standing position. Sunday he finally got himself into a sitting position on his own. Now today (Monday)his first tooth is finally poking through. You can see it and when you feel his gums you can feel the top of his tooth. I can't believe how this kid is taking off and doing things all at once. It's all so wonderful and I'm so excited and proud that he's growing and developing so well, but it also makes me want to sit and cry because he's not my little infant anymore. He's becoming a big boy and he's becoming more independent. He's so fun to watch though, and he gets so excited when he does something new!! Moms always tell you that everything goes by so fast, and you don't really realize how fast it goes until your baby is actually here.

Know what I did today? I sat and looked at all of Aiden's ultrasound pictures. That's the most surreal thing to look at the pictures of when he was in my belly and then to see him sitting and watching Blue's Clues. I got all choked up. Babies are such a miracle, aren't they? Being a mom is definitely the best life! It's the best thing I've ever done!

Now I have to head back out to work on my care plan for my clinical tomorrow. Today's weather is just beautiful, so enjoy it! Soak up some sun!
