I have a new dream

As I sit here watching Top Model, and I'm realizing that I have a new dream for my life....No, it's not modeling. I do have the height, but I don't think I'll ever be a size 2. That can't be healthy for girls so tall. What's happened to the days where women were curvy and beautiful like Marilyn Monroe....Anyway, I've been doing a lot of searching online about nursing degrees and trying to find out what my options are. I'm already going to be starting at a new school for my LPN. I should start on May 1st. My friend Holly is a nurse right down the street from me at the Surgery Center, and I'm going to get ahold of her b/c she got her associate's degree at home, and for me that's ideal b/c I know I"ll be working and any time I can save and be at home with my baby will be great. It's a program where I'll just go to Columbus for 3 days and work a nurse's shift and get all of my clinicals done then. I also found online a program where you can go right from your associate's degree to your master's. I think it's with Walden University. In the medical profession your employer seems to always pay for your education. I've never heard of a place that won't. I'm just thinking I want to eventually get my Master's and be a midwife/nurse practitioner. I've loved being pregnant so much, and I would love to able to work with women and deliver babies! It's such a grand time in a woman's life. By the time I would have my Master's I"m sure our kid(s) will be in school, so I could have no problem possibly working at a Dr's office and working 5 days a week.....We'll see, I'm sure it will open up a lot of job oppurtunities for me. I really do just want to help people. I know at my Dr's office everyone is great! The Dr, the midwife, the nurses....I love them all! I would love to be able to make people feel that great. I would really love to work with kids though too. I'm sure I'll get all of this figured out eventually, but that's my goal for the future. I know I won't be able to do it all at once, but when I'm done with my education....that's what I want.

That's about all I have right now. Today has been an uneventful day. So I will let you all go. Nighty-night

The Happiest News!

It's 3:55pm and I'm sitting here on the couch with my Maggie sitting beside me and I could just feel the baby moving! Before I could only feel tiny little flutters if I was lying in bed real still and it was really quiet. This is so exciting. I just had to share :)

Happy Spring!

Ahhhh, Spring is here and it's so lovely outside today. I love looking at the huge tree in our backyard because all of its buds are forming and I know it will be so pretty as soon as the leaves come in. I think Spring is my favorite season because it is gorgeous outside, but it's not hot and humid like it is in the summer time here. I must say though that I am looking forward to summer this year! We all know what that means! Our little oone will be here :)

Getting this belly is great! I never ever in my life thought I'd be happy to see my belly getting bigger, but I love it. People are starting to notice my belly and they're asking when I'm due and all of the other typical questions pregnant women get. It's great! I'm just s happy to talk about it with anyone who will listen. This weekend some clients came in who haven't seen me in a while, and they all asked me if I'm expecting :) Why yes I am! They were all encouraging too how my mom and Randi are and that was great. I've learned to tune people out when they're negative, but it's still a little discouraging just when some women just can't find anything nice to say. There really is only one lady who is really hurting my feelings. She and my mom have been friends since I was 4 I think, and I grew up with her boys who are about my age and her older daughter would babysit for us when our parents went out together. So, I've known her forever and we were all close for a long time. Right now we're really tolerating this person because we have known her so long. She has just gotten very bizarre. Anyway, she hates everything to do with babies. She hated getting up in the middle of the night, changing them, feeding them. Her daughter has 2 adorable little kids and she loves them now, but both times when she was pregnant this lady called my mom and said that she hoped her daughter would lose the babies. So sad! What woman and mother doesn't like babies and doesn't want grandbabies? So, now she doesn't like the idea that I'm having one and talks about how I'll have a baby to put up with. She didn't want her own grandchildren, so I know I can't take it too personally, but what hurts my feelings is that she can't even ask how I'm doing. She has not said anything to me since I've been pregnant except hi and bye. Weird! I've known her for 20 years....it's just very sad that's she's so bitter.

Are any mommies out there belly sleepers? I've always been a belly sleeper....and now I can't sleep on my stomach anymore. I feel like I toss and turn all night, and I know there are nights when I wake Jeff up. I'm going to get a body pillow, but if anyone has some advice then just let me know!

You know what I'm glad I got to experience? When I was in high school I spent a summer with a lady from my church who had twins. Her husband was in the Army and was gone for 3 months, so I stayed with her to help out. I always had the baby girl and she always had the boy b/c he had colic and he only ever wanted her. But for 3 months I was up when they were up to do feedings and changings and give baths. I didn't everything a mom does. I was talking to my mom about it yesterday, and she said I couldn't have had better training b/c I got to experience it all, and I always had the baby with me. Call me crazy, but it helps me feel confident about bringing a new baby home b/c I know what it's like. I"m definitely thankful I got to spend those 3 months with her. It was such a fun time and I have wonderful memories from that summer. Babies are such a blessing!

In a couple hours I'm going to go to the hospital to visit a girl from work who just had a baby girl on Friday. It's sad because knowing her husband...he isn't even there with her. We need to be thankful for the wonderful men in our lives, ladies! So, I'll keep her company and hold the baby.

I need to get myself ready for the day even though it's after noon now. Have a great day everyone!

It's a growing belly!

Finally, Jeff found the camera! I definitely need his help these days because I've lost my mind. I start to say something and can't remember what I was saying. I lose my train of thought so easily. Today I was talking to Randi on the phone and I couldn't find my purse. I really needed it b/c I was leaving for work. Well, I finaly found it in the laundry basket in the utility room....No, it wasn't on top, I saw the handle sticking out and clothes and towles were piled on top of it. How did it get there? I have no idea. I read somewhere that everytime you get pregnant you lose a small amount of brain cells....I believe it b/c I've always been scatter-brained and now I really am.

I have a huge praise. I was frustrated b/c I have to switch colleges b/c I started out about 2 years behind as far as clinicals go. I found a new school where I'll only take the sciences I need and do all of my clinicals and I'll get my LPN! I'm so excited. It's an intense program where I'll take one class a month, but I'm excited. I think I'm even more excited that it's a faster program. I know I'm not old, but with a baby on the way I just want to get done ASAP. I don't know why I didn't check this school first. So many girls I know who are now nurses have gone there and I should have researched it first. I'll be starting either April 3rd or the first Monday in May. I can't wait! Let's get this career on the roll!

I need to go for now. Now I'll update more like I did when I first got this blog since I have the camera :) It's easier to update more than once a week too b/c it's too hard to update your whole week when you have a pregnant mind and can't even remember where your purse is.....Love to you all!

More to come....

I will be posting more soon. I somehow misplaced our digital camera. Atleast I know it's here in the house somewhere. Anyway, I'm tired of not having pictures on my blog, so I will post more soon as soon as I find our camera. I hope everyone is having a great day!

Baby, baby, and more baby!

I can't stop myself. Everyday I'm looking at baby stuff. Since we have the furniture all picked out, I haven't looked at that. But, I'm constantly looking at bedding, clothes, travel systems, high chairs. When I'm not looking at baby products, I'm reading about pregnancy: Ivillage, blogs of new mommies, blogs of other pregnant women, pregnancy websites....Do I need help? I feel like I'm obsessive. I feel like I can't learn enough about everything. I'm definitely loving this pregnancy thing! I just can't wait to see this baby who is a little bit of me and a little bit of Jeff :) God has truly blessed our life. I now have the husband I always wanted and a baby on the way. My life right now is my life long dream come true. I'm loving every minute!

We've had a great week :)

This has been a great week for Jeff and I. On Tuesday we went to Toledo with my parents and we did some shopping and went out to eat. That day did start pretty poorly though. When I woke up I had some yummy frosted mini wheats. By the time we got to my parents' house I was hungry again, so we stopped by the gas station before we left town so my mom could fill up the car and I could run into the convenient store and get a snack. I grabbed some milk and mini powdered donuts. The longer we were in the car....the sicker I felt. We went to downtown Toledo so my mom could drop something off at the Sight Center that my dad doesn't need anynmore. I was really feeling sick by this point! Then Jeff drove from there to over where Babies R Us is in Toledo, so I got to sit up front. We were thinking that maybe I was just getting motion sickness in the back. I've had that problem since I was little. After we got over to our destination I knew I was going to get sick, and I did. As I'm getting sick my dad was yelling that there was a hole in the bag....it was a very ugly sight. I was so sad and embarassed. After that though, I fel great and I was ready to do some shopping! We browsed around Babies R Us and I we found the bedding that we like for the baby. It's beautiful cherry furniture. I can't wait to get the room all done! I think we're even going to wait to get the furniture though till after we know what we're having. This is the fun part though....having our first baby and getting to buy stuff all new. I love it and it's so exciting. My mom said that after we know what Baby Delehoy is that we'll go back to Babies R Us and stock up. I can't wait!

This morning went well. I went to the Dr for a little check-up. I've lost 11 pounds, which kinda scares me, but the midwife said that as long as I'm not throwing up it's ok. She checked the baby's heartbeat and it sounded great! It took her about 2 minutes to find it though and I got scared and I had tears in my eyes, but she told me that's normal when they're so little. It's in the 140's and strong so that's good. She put my mind at ease b/c I was asking if I could be at risk to have preemies like my mom did and she no. I"ll be ok :) I also got official permission to fly to Colorado for Lesley's wedding in June. I'm the matron of honor, so I'm glad I won't miss it!

Randi came to see me today also and that was great! I love spending time with her! She brought little Landon with her and he's such a handsome little man! I love him. I can't believe how much he's grown since I saw him last. I fed him and burped him and got some good practice in. He's such a cuddly baby and makes the cutest sounds! It made Jeff and I even more excited to see our baby in August! Randi and Brian, he is the perfect little baby! You must be so proud :)

Tomorrow it's back to work for the weekend, and I have a busy schedule ahead of me which is good. I love going in and being busy and not having to talk to too many people. Hairstylists are a different breed, and those who have been to beauty school know what I mean....Sometimes it's good to just go in and do your work and have fun with your clients and leave. OH, while I'm thinking of it....We'll be having my baby shower either June 17th or 24th, so clear your schedules, ladies! It will be a grand time!

I must go for now. I'm so exhausted, and a pregnant mommy always needs her rest. I hope all has been well with all of you! Love you! Nighty-night!

Maggie-doodle-dandy

I just realized that I haven't graced this page lately with my little Maggie's face. Isn't she precious? I just love out little dog.

This has been a great week. Nothing exciting has happend, but all is well here at the Delehoy home. I must say again though that I have a wonderful husband. He's always helping me, and if I get up to do something then he's right on my heels so he can help me out. It's been very nice having his help and his love too :) I married a good one.

You know what question I'm tired of hearing when people find out I'm pregnant? I'm tired of being asked.....Ohhhh, was it planned? Why is that anyone's business and who is so bold to ask such a thing? We're married adults. I never think to ask that when I find out someone's pregnant b/c who really cares? Babies are a blessing and a joy. I'm the ype of person who wants to know when you're due, if you have have names picked out yet, if you've started shopping for the nursery.........not if the baby was planned.

I have another pet peeve I'd like to talk about.....Ummmm, common courtesy says you don't call after 9pm, correct? Now, if it's family then that's fine b/c that's different. Last night I got to bed early for me, at 10pm, and I was woken up twice by a ringing phone. I was so upset b/c if I'm just falling asleep when something wakes me up...it's so hard for me to fall back asleep. I just know that once this little peanut is here, I won't be having any of that. Mama will need her sleep!

Ya know, I really would love doing hair if there was more money in it. Since I've gone down to 2 days a week, I've been booked with requests, my payroll is better b/c I'm not having any down time, and I've just really enjoyed seeing my clients that I know so well. I never thought I would miss that place when it's time to leave, whenever that may be, but I think I will b/c I've enjoyed the past couple weeks. My body sure does hurt though when I leave. I'm really starting to get bad back pain by the end of my shift.....It's ok though, I'll just enjoy my time while I'm there b/c I should just be thankful that I have a job.

After a long talk with Jeff and my mom, I'm going to have to withdraw this semester from school and start over again in the summer and fall with web classes. After I registered my advisor then told me about the Nurse's Aide certification that I need before I can start clinicals, and then he gave me the name and number of the company to call where I can go and take classes and to some practical work and get my certification. I contacted this place and it's from 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri for 3 weeks. I thought wow, that's a lot of time, but I'll get it done after the baby's here.....I need it done now. I had been thinking about it and I realized.....the longer I wait to get that, the longer it'll take me to start clinicals, and that certification is more important b/c there's such a waiting list. If I want till falll to get it when I'll have the time, it'll push my clinicals back a good 2 years or more. So, I need to take a break and get it done now. I wish my advisor would have pushed that before I registered, but I guess when you work for the college you want to do whatever will get the college more money. It's been a hard decision, but I can't get behind on clinicals. They're too important to just let it go and let it go. I think I'm going to pick up info this coming week too on Brown Mackie college b/c I know a lot of girls who have gotten their LPN there b/c they don't have the waiting list for clinical, and you go all year and you're done in 18 months and you take one class a month. I'm thinking that sounds like a better program just b/c of the waiting list. That's a critical factor. I always wondered why girls didn't want to go to Owens for nursing and now I get it. The wait is crazy! I think if I was 18 or 19 and was just out of high school then I would care, but I'm at a point where I just want it done and I don't have time to sit around and wait.

I must also add that I am absessed with Walk The Line. I've seen it 3 or 4 times. I love Joaquin, I love Reese. They did an amazing job. I think I just love the singing and I picture myself up on stage performing like that. That's been my dream since I was a little girl, being a singer......dancer/actress/figure skating-gymnist. It's just a great movie. At myspace.com/cararaed I even added their song Jackson to my page. I just recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it and let me tell you that I will be buying it on DVD tues!

I'm going to head on out for the night. I think I'll sit in a warm bath and relax and then get some good sleep before my long day of work ahead of me tomorrow. I love you all so much and I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)
