20 Things That Change When You Have A Baby

Stuff like this always makes me cry....

1. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.
2. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.
3. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.
4. You're less self-involved and more self-motivated.
5. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.
6. You respect your body ... finally. (Hooray for baby-making!)
7. You have stronger opinions and are stronger willed.
8. You respect your parents and love them in a new way. (Hooray for grandparents!)
9. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.
10. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child. (Hooray for the tooth fairy!)
11. You lose touch with the people in your life that you should have banished years ago.
12. Your heart breaks much more easily.
13. You think of your baby 234,836,178,976 times a day. In fact, you're so busy with this that you forget everything else.
14. Every day is a surprise.
15. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)
16. You think before you speak.
17. You become a morning person. (Hooray for watching the sun rise!)
18. If you have a son, you no longer curse men. (Hooray for all men!)
19. If you have a daughter, you hope she won't endure your same heartaches.
20. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

I'm very blessed.

I've been feeling bad lately because I have nothing to blog about, and I love my blog...Life has been so good to me though. The thing I'm most thankful for right now is the wonderful pregnancy I've had. I'm the 4th girl at workk to have a baby this year, and I've seen a couple of them really have such a tough time. On my worst day I'm just sleepy. I'm just so thankful that all of my vitals are always great and my weight gain is healthy. This also makes me very thankful that I'm still in my regular jeans. I don't know about any of you other mommies, but I have no luck with maternity jeans. I'm only getting bigger in my belly, so maternity pants fall right off. Someone needs to come up with jeans that only have belly room and aren't cut any bigger in the legs, hips, and butt. Hey, maybe that's the million dollar idea I've been looking for. My favorite part of the whole pregnancy thing is how your hair and nails grow. I've never in my life had nails, so this is great! I actually have feminine hands. I guess I could list things for hours, but it all boils down to the fact that I have no complaints, and even when I may complain about something I just remind myself that the little bit of discomfort is for the best reason in the world. I'm bringing a new little life into the world and that's awesome.

One thing I'm really thankful for is for Randi and my mom and a few other ladies I know. They're just so positive and encouraging all the time. This may be a little naive, but I'm not even afriad of labor. Am I dreading it? Oh of course, but that's just because I know it won't be a walk in the park. The fact that I'll get to see my beautiful baby boy at the end is what keeps me going and keeps me confident about it. I can't wait till I can see his little face and just kiss him all over. I'm so excited that all of the parents will be here. I really means the world to me that Jeff's parents will be coming. Aidan will be the first Grandbaby for them with the Delehoy name, and he's a boy, so I think that's pretty cool. I told my sister-in-law, Amy that I think he'll be a spoiled baby, and she was all....You think he will? You KNOW he will! It makes me so happy to see others just as excited about Aidan coming as Jeff and I are.

Who will Aidan look like? Beats me! There's Jeff who has green eyes, blonde hair and fair skin. I have dark eyes, hair and skin. I think he'll be beautiful. I think it would be so cute if he's built like Jeff :) I just know that I'll kiss his face off and kiss it right back on everyday.

See, this is why I don't blog everyday because this is what I'm thinking about everyday. I think this post everyday would get very old to everyone. There's just so much I wonder about this little man everyday. I'm just so thankful he's growing just like he should and has a clean bill of health. I couldn't ask for more. My secret wish for him though is that I have him on the 15th of August. I think it would be so cute if Jeff and his firstborn son shared a birthday. I know Jeff really wants that too. He said that it would be the best birthday present he could have.

Ok, I'll stop rambling now b/c I could go on forever. Wish me Happy Cleaning! I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today.

P.S. I really need a belly pic huh? I need to get better about that!

I had a happy first unofficial Mother's Day. It was so fun to get cards for the mommy-to-be on Mother's day and gifts. It wasn't really even those things that made is special though, I think it was just being recognized as a Mother. Wow, that's such a big deal and so exciting. It's amazing how this little boy has changed my life and he isn't even here yet. My heart is already bursting with so much love for him. I already want to keep him safe and protect him from any kind of hurt in this world. I can't imagine how much stronger these feelings will be in 3 months when he's here. I love my big strong boy :)

I can't wait till Father's Day, so I can do something for Jeff. I already know what I want to do for him, and I would love to tell everyone, but he reads my page and I don't want to ruin the surprise. I just know it's something that will mean a lot to him. I'm so thankful for him, and I'm thankfu that Aidan will have such a good example of how a man and a husband and a father should be.

What a wonderful feeling this parenting stuff is! I need to head on out to my mom's. I hope all of you are having a wonderful day :) Hopefully I'll have many exciting things to write about this week!

Thinking Outloud

I'm just going to think outloud for a moment. I worry so much about the women in the world these days and their kids, especially the girls they're raising. I'm sure the story is very old, but I've been seeing so much of this lately. The situation I'm thinking of in particular involves a girl I've known for almost 5 years now. She got married a week before me, and she now has a one year old and a 2 months old....My heart breaks for her and her girls. Her situation is so extreme. Her husband is abusive in every way he can be, but it's mainly mentally and emotionally. He does crazy things all the time....such crazy things that I won't watch her girls for her b/c I don't want him knowing where I live even though they're beautiful babies and I would love to have them over any day so I could spoil them. I feel bad for this friend of mine b/c she talks to her mom and her mom tells her they'll get through it and it's normal to go through such horrible things. Her mom went through a bad time with her dad when they were first married, so she thinks all of this is normal and it isn't. So my friend is following her mom's path, and her baby girls will follow after her and marry a man just like their daddy b/c its all they know. The pattern will never end. It makes me thankful for my mom and my brothers who always told me to stand up for myself and not to let anyone mistreat me in any kind of way. I remember in elementary school I got in trouble a few times b/c the boys would hit or kick or push me, and I would get mad and do it back an tell them in the process that they can't push me around b/c my mom and brothers said so. Then I'd get in trouble and I didn't even care, and I told the teacher I did what my mom and brother told me to. I told her that they told me to stand up for myself. I don't want anyone to think I was a fighter, but I didn't put up with anything. It makes me sad to see these beautiful, vibrant women stuck in situations they want out of, but won't get out of for whatever reason. I'm so thankful for Jeff. He has been so, so good to me. Our first year we had a few problems, but we got it all worked out and we've been fine since. On our wedding day though, I wasn't nervous for one second. I knew he was right for me, and that I didn't want to be with anybody else, and I knew he'd always be good to me and respectful. Ask my bridesmaids, I was in the room where we got ready singing and dancing about getting married. I think I get my talent for making up songs and dances from my mom :) Anyway, I didn't even cry....well, once I had tears run down my face during the ceremony and Jeff had a tissue and we wiped my tears....other than that I was just so calm and excited. He's my best friend. I worry about these women who know the guy isn't for them when they're dating and still go on with things anyway. Why spend your life miserable? I'm not an advocate of divorce, but I don't think God expects you to deal with emotional, mental, or physical abuse all the time. I pray for these women daily. I have a list from clients to friends to cousins....I don't know why I've seen so much of this recently. Maybe it's just so I can pray for them and their kids. I defnitely know that Jeff and I will teach Aidan to be so good and respectful to women. If we ever have a girl I'll defnitely teach her to always stand up for herself. I want her to always be able to hold her head high and have a great self-esteem. So to all you women out there....Be strong and have confidence. Stand up for yourself in everything! Your life is worth so much!

I would like to add too that when I tell any of you that you're in my prayers that you really are. I pray for all of you daily. I know how important it is to keep those you love in your prayers, and they aren't just empty words when I tell you that.

I must gor for now and get some cleaning done :( Have a wonderful day!

Aidan's New Nursery Look...

Life has been so uneventful lately. I wish I had exciting stories of adventure, but I don't :( Life has been great though. Everyday I feel like I'm consumed with this baby boy and planning and getting things ready for him. I love this little man so much. I must say though that I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to be done. The few months were great when I had every ounce of my energy and I didn't have to pee all the time and I was sleeping all night long. Now I'm up atleast 3 times a night. The aches and pains are starting. I'm back to needing a small nap everyday just to keep me going. It's amazing how much these little ones drain you while they're in your belly. Even though I'm getting tired, I do still love this whole process. I love feeling him move around. I love it when Jeff can feel him. It's amazing to me what God designed the female body to do. I mean, we bring new life into this world. It's the best feeling in this world. Jeff and I have decided to change his room to what you see above. He spent all of his summers in Colorado at his parents' cabin there. It's very boyish and different. I've never seen anything like it. In his room we have a knotty pine wall that we can't take down, so I think this will go well with that and look like it's supposed to be there. My mom is coming over Thursday to paint the trim in the room. I'm trying to think of what I want to use. We bought a dark blue, but I think a dark chocolate brown would look nice too...I'll figure something out. I just want to make sure his room looks perfect! I can't wait till he's here.

I need to go for now. I send my love to you all!

Amazing

I've always thought this was the most amazing picture. It truly shows that the babies we carry are living babies with heartbeats, not just a fetus, or something we can get rid of if we want to. It's a miracle. This baby was 21 weeks old in his mama's belly, and needed surgery. The Dr. performed surgery while he was still in his mom's uterus, and his little hand grabbed the Dr's finger.....I love it.

To My Child.

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys..

Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just! for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.

Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore.
And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day...
