On a break.

I won't be around here for several days. I am getting Spring cleaning done this week. On Thursday Jeff and I will be leaving for wedding in Colorado. I'm the matron of honor, so I'm very excited. She is such a good friend and she and her man have been together for a long time. They really are perfect for eachother and I can't wait to celebrate with them. Anyway, I need everything perfect before we leave. I refuse to come home to any kind of mess anywhere. I'm turning into my mama more and more everyday, which is a good thing. She's a good woman :)

I've decided not to post anymore pics of what we're doing with Aidan's nursery until it's all done b/c it's changed again. We're back to farm animals, only different bedding b/c the other bedding is so hard to get. There was also a 10 week delivery wait for the other bedding, and that's my due date, so forget that. Jeff really wants to get Aidan a metal John Deere tractor to set on his dresser. That's a sentimental thing for him b/c all of his grandparents were farmers, and it's something he grew up around. So, the new bedding is picked and I"ll have pics once his room is all done :)

I hope that all of you enjoy your week! Enjoy this beautiful weather, and I'll have pics and stories when I get back!

Thank you :)

Thank you ladies for your positive comments :) I really appreciate it. I know I'll be ok. It was just a shock to me to hear bad results. I guess everything is under control though since I've had good readings when my mom checks my sugar, so I shouldn't worry. I still don't have my appointments set yet to see the dietician or the diabetes specialist, but today I took on a new attitude while I was at work. I've decided that it will be good for me to see these people and get more tips and advice and direction. I know now that it's something I"ll definitely have to keep up with after he's here too. Diabetes does run in my family, so I need to be careful. It's better I be a healthy nut now rather than when it's too late and I'm doing damage control. So, I'll have to stick to diet and exercise forever. All I have to say is....I'd better look like Halle Berry when I'm in the condition I should be in! Amber, you're like the Queen of Fitness and you look so great. I wish you were here to coach me :) I can do this though. I just have to stay confident and positive.

I can't believe that today is the start of trimester 3....wow, where has the time gone? Our little sweet pea will be here soon! I was just telling Randi that just thinking about seeing him and holding him brings tears to my eyes. My heart is just so full of love for him already. I can't wait to meet my son. I really can't wait to see who he looks like. A client of mine said tonight....Isn't Jeff blonde?....Yes he is....Wow, who is he going to look like?....Beats me, but I'm sure he'll be the most handsome little man in town!

Well, I'm off! I work early tomorrow, so I'll get off at 3. I will then go to a bridal shower and then spend the rest of the night with my wonderful husband. I enjoy that time with him b/c during the week I don't always get to see him as much as I would like with his work schedule. I love him :) I hope he knows that I do even when I wake up grouchy.....like today. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Love!

Update...

Well, I officially have gestational diabetes. I just know that I am very confused right now. I've had my mom check my sugar after big meals and it's normal. I've been so careful. This just stinks. Atleast I know how to control it although it's already under control. I just got back from 45 minutes of working out at the Y. I waited on a call from the Dr's office b/c they were supposed to schedule my appointment with the dietician and a diabetes specialist here in town. They never called though, so I think I'll call there in the morning. I don't have any symptoms of it at all, so I think I'm just still in shock. So if you could, just keep me in your prayers that this will stay under control and my Aidan will stay healthy. That's my main concern. I just want us both to be healthy.

The long and boring blood test...

So, today I had my 3 hour glucose test, and let me tell you what....it was no walk in the park. I went in not worried about the drink b/c I loved what I had the first time. So, I go in and get my first blood draw and monitor check to make sure my levels aren't high to begin with so I can start the test. My level was 85 which was great, so she brought me my drink.... It was orange this time, and it sucked! I didn't look much bigger than my last drink, but it was 100 grams of sugar, so it was defnitely a lot thicker. It was like thick, orange syrup. So, I downed it really quick to just get it out of the way. That bad boy had so much sugar in it, I could feel my insides quivering for the first hour. It was a terrible feeling. After that everything went well. Jeff was with me at the hospital the whole time, so time went by pretty fast. It was fun people watching. My last blood draw left a lot to be desired though. A different lady called me back and she missed my vein....instead of pulling the needle out and trying again...she kept moving the needle around in my arm trying to hit the vein. Finally she gave up and called the other lady I had worked with to come rescue her. I think I was the one needing rescued b/c I was the one in pain. Finally she got it and I was ready to go. I was so thankful it was over and I lived through it. I then had shooting pains up and down my arm for close to an hour. I'm glad it's all over. I left at noon and they told me that the results would take 4 hours. I honestly don't know if they were going to call or my Dr's office, but I foudn out to my dismay that I'm sitting here waiting for my results and the modem to our phone and internet is out. So, I called our womderful cable company and the lady got it going for me. After I hung up with her the modem was off and on and off and on and off and on....I hope I didn't miss them calling me. I guess if they don't call this evening then I'll just hear from someone tomorrow. I'm praying for great results. I'll update as soon as I know what's up!

These hot days of summer...

are killing this woman who will be 7 months pregnant on Fri. It's been in the low 90's in my area, and I've had enough! Since Saturday I've had nothing but swollen fingers and ankles. I down water and keep my feet up, and it helps some. It's just the worst feeling ever to have your feet and ankles swollen. They don't quite bend like they should and it kinda hurts. At this point, I"m ready to be done. This is really the only uncomfortable thing I've had to deal with, so just remind myself that I'm still very fortunate to be having a great pregnancy and that there are women in this world who would love to have swollen ankles if it means they're having a baby.

Our weekend was wonderful. Saturday our friends Lisa and Bill got married, and it was such a beautiful wedding. It brought back so many memories of our special day. When the pastor was marrying them I kept thinking.....oh my gosh, I don't remember Pastor Shaffer saying any of this at our wedding. I know he did b/c he went over what was going to be said at our last counseling session. Everything is just a blur...the ceremony probably wouldn't be a blur of we had a video of it, but that's a whole other can of worms I don't want to open. I'm just so excited for Bill and Lisa. They've waited so patiently to find the one that God had for them and they're perfect for eachother. I hope they're having fun on their honeymoon!

Monday I had to work, but it wasn't so bad. I just sat around chatting with the girls, and that was nice. Since I only work on the weekends I don't get to hear much from anyone b/c I'm booked solid while I'm there. It was nice catching up! After work Jeff and I went to my parents' house for a bbq, and boy was it delicious.

To sum up my weekend...I just had a great time with family and friends.

Tonight my mom and I filled out 50 invitations for my baby shower. I'd say about 40 of those women should come. We're also putting something in the church bulletin b/c there are a lot of those women who want to come, so we should have a gathering of about 50-60 women. I can't wait! The only dilemma I have is how to word in the bulletin NO KIDS. Honestly, I don't mind if kids come. There's just one woman I know who has a little girl I really don't want there. She is a holy terror and they have no control over her at all. She's never been disciplined a day in her life. I've just seen her in action and I know how much she can destroy. Oh what to do...I shouldn't worry b/c I think my mom is going to handle it. I never stress about kids, but this little one really stresses me out. I want other people to bring their babies though b/c I have several friends with new babies and I want to see them all...advice anyone?

Tomorrow is my 3 hour glucose test, so I'm fasting right now, and I'm hungry. I had my mom check my sugar after eating and it was 100, so very normal! I'm confident that things will go well tomorrow. If you could, just keep me in your prayers. I really don't want to have GD right now.

Well, I'm off to bed everyone. I hope you all sleep tight tonight. Nighty-night...

Have a great weekend!

All I have to say is.....wow, I have 13 weeks to go! Time definitely flies. I can't wait to hold my Aidan baby! I must say that I like the way we're spelling his name. I think Aidan with a "dan" on the end looks more masculine. I just know I'll love everything about him!

The reason for this post is to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. Remember to keep those that you love in your hearts. Enjoy the extra day off. I hope you all have bbq's or something fun to do!

Stormy Weather....

Today has been a yucky day. We've had horrible thunderstorms passing through all day, which should have been a clue to how the rest of my day would be going. I got a call from the nurse at my Dr's office telling me that I failed my 1 hour glucose test :( Now I have to call in the morning and they'll schedule my 3 hour test. This just stinks b/c I've taken such good care of myself. I know it's good to know if you have it so you can control it and make it a healthier situation for you and your baby, but it's just sad. So, I guess it's back to the Y on a consistent basis for me and healthy eating no matter what. I'm just floored b/c when I was at my mom's Monday I had her check my sugar. I had eaten a good meal b/c my dad bbq'd and I had vanilla ice cream with my mom's homemade chocolate sauce and she took my sugar and it was 119, which is normal. I don't know how it was 163 after I had that drink. Oh well, I guess I'll just fast and see what happens. My mom thinks it'll all turn out ok after fasting for the next test. I don't know why I didn't have to for the one I just had, but they told me not to. So, please pray for me. I just want to be happy and healthy the rest of this pregnancy. I don't want to be sad, but more importantly....I don't want any serious complications. I just want Aidan and myself to be healthy!

The rest of my day was great though. I had a fitting for my dress again for the wedding I'm in June 10th, and it's perfect! She did a wonderful job! I bought some cute silver shoes to go with my dress too. They're real sparkly!....After the dress fitting I went out with my friend Lisa and a few of her friends. We went out to eat. It was just a nice, relaxing time with the girls. Lisa is getting married in Sat. and I'm so excited for her. God has blessed her with such a wonderful man. I'm glad they found eachother. My mom said....remember all those lunches you two used to have and you thought you were going to be old maids?.....I know, we were silly. Now we both have wonderful men, and I must say I thank God for mine everyday. She's going to be a beautiful bride. I can't wait to share in her special day :)

I need to warm up some stuff for Jeff b/c he'll be home soon. Nighty-night everyone! Sleep tight.

I went to the Dr. today for my glucose test. That drink actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It tasted like the punch my mom makes, only sweeter. Not too bad at all. So, I went in and they drew my blood....I'm now an anemic girl, so I have to take these huge iron pills :( I've lost a pound too, which was surprising to me because I thought I gained another 10 pounds or so. All I've been asking Jeff are things like....does my face look bigger? my legs? my arms?....I guess it was all in my head. The baby's heartbeat did sound great :) I love that noise. It makes me more excited to hold my son and kiss him. I'm getting very antsy! I can't wait. Anyway, it's back to the Dr in 3 weeks to make sure my iron count is where it should be.

While sitting in the waiting room I was looking at the bulletin board and the next childbirth class Jeff and I can make it to is one on Sat July 15th. It'll be one of those classes that's from 9am-4pm. That works for us b/c he works second shift during the week. Here's the dilemma....friends of our's are having a vow renewal wedding ceremony on that day, so we won't be able to go. I don't want to hurt their feelings, but if we wait till mid-August, that's pushing it b/c that'll put me at like 7-10 days away from my due date. And who knows.....I may have Aidan then and miss out on the class completely. I just don't want to disappoint anyone. I am actually excited about the class though. I've been hearing great things about the classes from women who have been through them. Even women who said they forgot all of the breathing they learned, they loved it b/c they educate you well as far as what all your body goes through. They've said that relieves a lot of worry. So, I am excited to learn about different things that can help you. For a while I was thinking I wanted everything totally natural, but then I read about the walking epidural that basically takes the edge off, but you still have feeling and can still walk around....I think I may consider that if I decide I need something. A full dose one scares me. Mainly what scares me is not having any feeling in your legs. I think that would freak me out, but I'm open to a low dose of something if I feel there's a need. I really will try to go without though. There are a lot of decisions to be made, huh? I defnitely know that I'll be taking a yoga ball with me after talking to Randi. Anything to help pressure and help the baby descend it great!

I should head on out for now. I hope everyone is enjoying this warm weather! I'm loving every second of it. Good-day!
