We've learned to expect the unexpected!!!!

Life since Aiden has been wonerful! My energy level has been great! He seems more relaxed and comfrotable here at home than he was at the hospital....we can talk about that later. Let me tell you how all of this came about :)

Monday was a pretty good day. I spent most of the day reading a whole book and just relaxing. Nothing too exciting. My mom works 2nd shift and I called her around 9:30pm to chat, and I happened to mention I was having horrible lower back aches. My mom said....you tell the Dr tomorrow at your appointment b/c that's labor!...No mom, it's just a common discomfort about this time.....No, I'm telling you it's labor!.....Jeff came home around 10:20 pm, and we finished up Aiden's room. The main thing was getting the dust ruffle on his bed that had just come in the mail that day and we were in bed around 11:30. I had him rubbing my back and I was crying b/c I was so uncomfortable and I just wanted to be done. My back pain eased up and the last I looked at the clock it was 11:45pm and I dozed off. 12:20am....my water broke and woke me up. I panicked inside....No Cara, you're dreaming This isn't real. Go back to sleep. A split second later I was waking Jeff up and had to tell him 3 times that my water broke. So, we just started throwing stuff in my bag and called the Dr and went to the hospital that is only 2 streets away. We got to the hospital and I got to my room, which by the way was awesome! It was like a big hotel room. Anyway, my IV was started and they got all of my internal monitors put in. I was dilated to 4cm. My contractions finally started and everything was bearable, or so I thought until I got a strong one and broke out in a horrible hot sweat all over and I looked at Jeff and said....yeah, I want the epidural. I was going on absolutely no sleep and I didn't want to lay there in pain. At 3:45 I got the epidural and let me tell you that that thing is heaven. I still had feeling in my legs, but I couldn't feel the contractions at all. I was able to actually smile and laugh and even close my eyes and rest. At 7:15am the nurse said the Dr ordered pitocin(sp?) b/c my contractions were regular like they should be but they weren't strong enough. So, I got a small amount of that added to my IV and by 7:30 I could feel pressure from Aiden coming down. I told the nurse and she said ok and checked my and she said he was on his way down but still a little high. She came back at 8:10 and I told her the pressure was getting worse and she said....Ok, I'll come back at 8:30 and check you. That was the hardest part of it all. I really didn't like having the sensation to push and I wasn't able to. That was the worst for me. She checked me at 8:30 and I was ready to go, so she and another nurse set stuff up and I pushed 3 times and then she called the Dr in I pushed once and he was out.....yes, only 4 pushes total! Pushing was great! It was such a relief and it didn't hurt. I was just happy to be getting him out! Then I heard his little tiny cry and I started crying.....The whole labor process was 8 hours and 50 minutes and boy did it fly by! It went so fast. I'm very thankful I had a great Dr and nurses looking after me. I must say that the whole experience really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think that was b/c I couldn't feel the contractions either, but it was just a beautiful day. The son God gave us made his big entrance into the world and I've loved every second of him being with us! He's so beautiful! I can see Jeff and I both in him. He looks a lot like my newborn picture, but he looks a lot like Jeff too. I think he has the best of both of us, and his sandy hair! Oh, he is just too cute :) I'm so thankful for him. I'm so thankful he's home and he's strong and healthy for being 5 weeks early, b/c it's not typical. God gave us a very strong baby! He's our pride and joy!

I have more to write about, but it's time for him to get some milkies in his belly. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Delehoy Bundle of Joy!

He's here everyone! I can't get into too much right now, but I'll probably be back tomorrow with all of the details. He is beautiful and looking more and more like his daddy everyday! I love him so much :) My mom is here and making us a big old dinner ( Praise the Lord for that after hospital food!), so I can't say much right now. But he was born Tues at 9:10am at 5lbs 6oz and 18 inches long. He's now down to 4lbs 15oz, so we'll be going out to buy some preemie clothes. He's my big strong boy though. He's perfectly healthy and isn't in need of oxygen or anything typical for babies his age. We're so thankful he's here and healthy:) So, here are some pics of him. Enjoy and I'll talk to you tomorrow!.....Oh, and he has a head full of sandy blonde hair like his dad! Love it!

Not too much to blog about today. I went to the doctor's again this morning for another non-stress test and BP check. My blood pressure was up again and didn't come down much after lying down, so my orders were to continue my bedrest. With my blood pressure not coming down I have a feeling he'll be here before we know it! I've started getting the worst lower back aches ever, and last night it started with back pain and then I had sharp pains in my belly. It happened like 4 times in a row, and I wanted to wake Jeff up but I didn't. Are these early contractions? I'm not sure seeing as how I've never been through this before, but if they are then I welcome them gladly b/c I need to get my health back and Aiden needs to be healthy! We have everything ready for him, so he can come any time he wants to.

I would like to give Randi a big thank you! She and Landon were my compnay today and it was oh so nice! It feels great when you know people love you and are thinking about you. It was such a great lift for my spirits. Thank you, Ran. I'm glad you were here :)

I must go for now. I'm going to start in on the books Randi brought me to read. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and are able to spend time with those you love!

Here's my Maggie!

Thankful

I'm so thankful for many things right now. Being down the way I have been has made it easy for me to cry and complain b/c it has been tough and scary, but if you do that everyday then you'll just be miserable. First of all, I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband. He works so hard everyday to provide a good life for me and Maggie and Aiden who will be here soon. We were worried about finances with me being off of work sooner than planned. Jeff had to work last Saturday and has to work Saturday and Sunday this weekend, and I was all depressed and thinking....Great, now that I can be home with him on the weekend he has to work!...Last night I realized....Ya know, we need to be thankful b/c look at how God is taking care of us and providing the extra money with the overtime he's getting. I should have had that point of view sooner!

I'm so thankful for my mom. She came over again today and she cleaned my bathroom for me and washed around the base boards and scrubbed the ugly shower doors for me.....I hate shower doors!!!!......She mopped my kitchen again for me and the laundry room. I've decided to make a few changes to Aidens room as far as decorations go. I have an antique frame that had a mirror in it, it belonged to my Grandma. Well, after Jeff and I were first married the mirror broke out of it, so she's taking that to get a mirror cut and put into it so I can put it in Aiden's room. It's really just been nice to have her for support b/c she's been on bedrest and knows exactly how I'm feeling. I love my mom. Her help and love and support have been just what I've needed.

I'm thankful for those who are my true friends. When you're in a situation when you're down for something and really need help it doesn't take long to learn who your real friends are. Tomorrow Randi and Landon are coming to see me, which I am very excited about :) I know that I have a true friend in her and can count on her for anything. I love her very much and would do the same for her in a heartbeat. I've learned from all of this that I will go out of my way from now on to do things for people when they need the help, even if it's just providing dinner. I know how much it means and how good it makes you feel to know that someone is thinking about you and they care enough to let you know that.

I'm going to head on out for now and eat me some dinner. I leave you with a picture of the sleepiest little dog in the world....my Maggie. I love her and she's been a good little companion while I've been home. So, thank you to you Maggie....my tiny protector.
Ok, I'll add the picture later. Blogger isn't allowing me to upload photos right now!

Good News!

I just came from the doctor and all is looking well. The bloodwork came back from the hospital and everything looks good. My blood pressure was 128/80, which is a huge drop from where it has been, so the bed rest is working. I'm dilated to 2 cm., so that was great news! He said that when it's time to get Aiden out they'll just have to induce me. I won't need a c-section!! I am so thankful for that b/c I do not want my belly cut open. He said now it's just a matter of me staying down and keeping the baby in as long as I can. So, all is well here. Thanks to all of you for yout thoughts and prayers. I know God is looking out for us and I"m not as stressed as I was :) I've actually felt great the past 2 days!

Don't worry about whether you spelled Aiden's name right or wrong :) It's no big deal, and the spelling was something we were still debating over anyway. So, d-e-n on the end of his name is ok with us. No worries! We're easy going. We just thought we would make it easy for him and everyone else!

Enjoy this beautiful sunshine today boys and girls!

Aidan's name change...

Ok, so his name is still going to be Aidan, but we're changing the spelling. We're tired of his name never ever being spelled right. Yesterday I told Jeff......Every single person spells it with an e, so we may as well change it or this kid's name will be spelled wrong his whole entire life, and people can't pay attention when we spell it. We liked the dan on the end b/c we thought it looked more masculine. Anyway, he is now Aiden. Aiden Keith. No biggie. Atleast his name will be spelled correctly from now on.
